No for Hookah
Grade 10 students have been assigned a project on hookah smoking. (The hookah is a water pipe used to smoke tobacco through cooled water). Students have been asked to create colorful posters and pamphlets to alarm teens about the risks of smoking hookah. In their presentations, students clarified some misconceptions about hookah smoking, identified some of the reasons that drive teens to engage in such an activity, and proposed solutions to the problem. Students also watched a video clip featuring Sara Dabbous, Dina bekdash, Samer Jallad, and Mohamad Anas ben Ahmad performing a rap song on hookah smoking .
Looka, looka, look
What’s with the hooka
You say you can’t live with it no more
Even though it makes your heart turn sore
You say it’ll make your friends think you’re cool
Trust me, you’re a fool
It’s addictive, it’s destructive, it’s shameful
It feeds on your lungs
Do you need another song
To wake you up from the mess you’re in
Do you want the nicotine to consume you from within?
So get up, get out, and go back home
Trust me , it’s where you belong
You don’t want to kill yourself, you’re too young
But you think you’re indestructible, you think you’re King Kong
Well, open your eyes, and quit this thing
Just join us and go ahead and sing.
Also, Nadine Naamani performed a song to the tune “I Will Survive” (Gloria Gayner).
Fist, I tried it, then I lied
Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side
But after spending so many times
Thinking how it did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to quit it all along
All in all, the session was fun yet an educational one , for it gave students the opportunity to express much creativity and show their talents.
